Coding 1a: Introduction to Programming

Have you ever wanted to create your own program or wondered how your favorite websites were built? Maybe you want to know more about how computers and technology are affecting the world around us. In Coding 1a: Introduction to Programming, you will explore the role technology plays in our lives as well as study the fundamentals of computer science, review hardware and software, and learn how the internet functions. You will also discover how to develop your own programs and learn basic and complex commands and sequences as you become familiar with the Python programming language. This course also covers data collection methods, access rights, protocols, and security.

Coding 1b: Programming

Cultivate your understanding of programming and add the aspect of user interface to make sure that your creations actually serve their purpose. You will deepen your knowledge of Python (loops, lists, custom functions to keep your programs organized) and then use it to study a few classic algorithms. Finally you will use Django and basic HTML to create a simple website. You will also examine more software engineering concepts, learn more about security, privacy, and ethics in technology, and explore the wide variety of careers in computing.

Geometry Honors Online

Geometry is everywhere, not just in pyramids. Engineers use geometry to build highways and bridges. Artists use geometry to create perspective in their paintings, and mapmakers help travelers find things using the points located on a geometric grid. Throughout this course, students travel a mathematical highway illuminated by spatial relationships, reasoning, connections, and problem solving. Students are strongly recommended to study on average about 2 - 3 hours per week.

Physical Science Honors Online

This course is designed as an interactive, 21st century course focusing on basic physics and chemistry. Topics include forces and motion, energy through waves, electricity and magnetism, the matter around us, chemical bonding and reactions. Recommended for students from school grade 7 - 10. Students are strongly recommended to study on average about 2 - 3 hours per week.

Physics Honors Online

Honors Physics expands upon the concepts introduced in Physical Science to help students understand the physical world around them. In each “Physics World” module, students discover the contributions of geniuses like Galileo, Newton and Einstein. In their work, students learn the concepts, theories, and laws that govern the interaction of matter, energy and forces. From tiny atoms to galaxies with millions of stars, the universal laws of physics are there for you to observe and apply. Students are strongly recommended to study on average about 2 - 3 hours per week.

Pre-Algebra Online

Students who love interactive learning will enjoy Pre-Algebra. This hands-on course is full of slideshows, applications, videos, and real-world scenarios. The satisfaction that students gain from truly understanding higher level concepts such as functions and systems of equations encourages excitement and joy for learning. This course is appropriate for upper level middle school students or as a high school review course, grade 7 - 9.

Students are strongly recommended to study on average about 3 hours per week.
